In this Poha Pudla recipe guide, we will show you how to make Poha Pudla step-by-step, including tips and tricks for perfecting this classic recipe.

Ingredients for poha pudla :

  • 1 cup flattened rice (poha)
  • 1 cup Semolina flour (Rava)
  • 1 chopped Onion
  • 8-10 cloves of Garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped Carrot
  • 1/4 cup chopped green Chili
  • 1/4 cup chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tbsp Baking soda
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water as required
  • Oil

Ingredients for Chutney :

  • Some coriander leaves
  • 1 piece of Ginger
  • 2 Green Chili
  • 7-8 cloves of Garlic
  • 2 tbsp roasted Gram beans
  • 2 tbsp Lemon extract
  • Salt as per taste


Steps for Poha pudla recipe :

Firstly, rinse the flattened rice (poha) in a colander and let it soak in water for 10-15 minutes. After the rice has soaked, drain the water and set it aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine the soaked flattened rice, 1 cup semolina flour (rava), 1 chopped onion, 8-10 cloves of garlic (finely chopped), 1/4 cup finely chopped carrot, 1/4 cup chopped green chili, 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves, 1/2 tbsp baking soda and salt as per taste. Mix them well.

Add water to the mixture slowly, stirring continuously, until you get a smooth batter.

The batter should be thick, but not too thick so that it won’t spread on the pan.

Now, heat a non-stick pan on medium heat and add a teaspoon of oil to it.

Once the oil is hot, pour a ladleful of the batter onto the pan and spread it evenly in a circular motion.

Cook the pudla on medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until it turns golden brown. Add a little more oil around the edges of the pudla to make it crispy.

Repeat the steps until you have used up all the batter.

The Poha pudla is ready.

Steps for Green chutney :

Take a mixer and add green coriander leaves, 1 piece of ginger, 2 green chilies, 7-8 cloves of garlic, 2 tbsp roasted Gram dal, 2 tbsp lemon extract, and salt according to taste and grind it. And finally, we will temper the chutney with curry leaves.

Then our green chutney is ready.

Tips for making the perfect Poha Pudla

  • To ensure that the batter is well mixed, use a whisk or spoon to combine all the ingredients thoroughly. This will help the pudla cook evenly and prevent clumps of uncooked batter.
  • To flip the pudla, use a spatula to gently lift it from the edges and turn it over. Be careful not to break it apart while flipping.
