Step 1
Begin by thoroughly washing and peeling the sweet potatoes. Then, grate them using a grater and set aside.

Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan or kadhai on medium flame. Add the grated sweet potatoes to the pan and cook them in ghee until they become soft. Stir occasionally.

Once the sweet potatoes are cooked, add sugar and stir well until the sugar dissolves completely. Then add the milk and mix well.

Sprinkle cardamom powder in the mixture for a flavor. Stir well to incorporate the cardamom evenly.

Lower the heat to a simmer and stir the mixture from time to time. Allow it to cook until the milk reduces and the halwa thickens to a desired consistency.

Once the halwa reaches the desired consistency and the ghee begins to separate from the mixture, turn off the gas. Garnish the Halwa with chopped nuts and raisins.
